Family of three....

Well, this is probably my last post on this blog before moving to my new blog...it should be up and running by the end of the week so if you are waiting for a sneak peek this is why you are waiting a bit longer - I'm so excited to see the picture up on the new blog.

This family of three are our neighbours....our beach neighbours! It was so nice to see you guys off season, hope it happens again before lake season! Enjoy this little pre-view, there are many more yet to come!

This is my third time to photograph this really fun loving family and this year they had an exchange student along with them, how nice that they will have actual family photos with their newest family member and be able to remember this special time they've had to be together each time they look back on their family photos from this fall. As always, it was a barrel of laughs - I still can't believe how much the kids have changed over this past year or so! Such a beautiful family!

This adorably lovey couple were so much fun to photograph. They told me ahead of time that they are not into the posey, smile and say cheese kind of deal - and I love that! It's nice to just stay back, camera in had, fly on the wall. I can't wait to photograph their wedding next Summer!

Balloon Fun!!

Again, all I can say is WOW, what wonderful weather we have had this week! Monday morning was perfect for pictures of little "B". We had such fun at the park with balloons. Fun until he decided to let his favorite green balloon go - then it was all tears! Nothing a little snuggle from Mom and his dino Sarah wouldn't fix though!

Birds Hill Park - Take Two! {family}

If you ever wonder where I am, I could be at Birds Hill! I photographed this adorable trio last fall at Assiniboine Park - this year the family dog wanted in on the action so we thought Birds Hill Park would work well - and did Homer ever love it!! These three kids were a blast last year and even more fun this year...I have to say a special thank-you to little "N" for tackling me while I was done, you are SO, SO sweet little man!

Met this family last Fall, our daughters are about the same age and played on the same team. The girls were thrilled to re-unite with them this Fall, and I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph them at the park. Such beautiful young ladies...such a lovely family!

I met this lovely family through my husband. We decided to meet downtown to do pictures. A suggestion I made thinking it would be a bit more fun with teens since they have 10 and 16 year old boys....very handsome boys if I might add...and cooperative, smiley, affectionate, polite, well mannered....should I go on?! These characteristics can only mean one thing, great parents! It was a true pleasure to take your photos, I keep thinking, I hope my son will hug me in front of the camera at 10 and 16!!

These two girls with their baby blues and dimples were just too much cuteness for one morning - I didn't want to stop taking their pictures!! And to top it off they reminded me so much of my two girls at their age. A smart, curious, yet cautious older sister...a busy, daring and determined younger sister. I miss my "baby" girls, they just grew up way too fast!

This little girl just couldn't stop smiling for her Mommy, even when she was trying to cry she just couldn't help smiling, it was so cute!! I can tell from her Daddy's FB page that she will have him wrapped around her little finger! Congrats to you both and to Lucy's three big bro's - I'm sure she will fill your sky with diamonds!

We managed to get a couple shots of baby "J" with his eyes open, snuggling with Mommy and Daddy right at the end.

This little guy arrived a bit early, he was just so sweet and tiny! What an angel, didn't give us a hard time at all, just slept so peacefully! Congrats on your little miracle!

Brandon Wedding!

Jeff and Lisa are good friends of ours so when they asked me to photograph their wedding in Brandon I was of course thrilled and honored! They are a couple that compliments each other perfectly, I noticed right away that Jeff is the worry-er and Lisa is the planner. She had every detail worked out perfectly and things couldn't have looked more beautiful - especially the bride herself! And despite all the worry - it all went very smoothly and they both enjoyed the day! Hope you two are having fun on the honeymoon!

Sherry and Jordan were such a fun couple, very relaxed and had the right attitude, their wedding day was going to be a day to remember and they were going to have a great time! The ceremony was at the lovely gardens at Assiniboine Park followed by a stroll over the bridge to Sargent Sundae, a trip downtown to the Winnipeg's Exchange district and a ride on the golf carts at Assiniboine Golf Course. What an awesome day! Thanks so much for having me be a part of it!

I have to say, it was quite a treat to photograph a family downtown in the middle of Summer! So many book their sessions in the Fall, looking for Fall colours and a park setting - all of which I love, but it's nice to get the opportunity to do something different. I love the old industrial area on the East side of Main Street.

On another more personal note, I just wanted to express my thanks to all my clients who have been so patient with me the past couple of weeks. My Father-In-Law passed almost two weeks ago and after spending time with family and friends I have found myself behind on my photo editing. Thanks for the kind words and understanding.

Don't you think it's worth the trip to the beach?! I think everything about the beach is wonderful! The smells, the sounds, the sand between your toes...is there any better place on earth? I am so blessed to be able to holiday out at Lester Beach....and working during my vacation....well I never thought I'd be able to call a day at the beach "work!" Life is good.

This family of...20ish was scheduled to bring their 5 furry friends with them but changed their minds at the last minute. I was a bit disappointed since I am a dog lover, but have to admit a bit relieved as well...trying to get 20 people looking, with eyes open etc is hard enough but throwing 5 pooches in the mix, well that is downright challenging! Anyhow, it was a bunch of fun and there are lots more great moments captured yet to come! Thanks Mandy!

Brand new baby boy!

This little guy was so teeny tiny! He arrived early and his proud parents were pleased to announce that he was over 7lbs now - still tiny in my books! He was a dream to photograph! Thanks for bringing him so fresh and new M and D!

My sneak peeks will be a bit smaller in the next week or so...trying to get all caught up before holidays at the end of the month. Don't worry though, I'll still be working, just not from home, and still shooting...but not in studio, at the beach!

Little girl "A"

This little one was not expected to arrive until a few days from now but is already 3 weeks old! She was probably the most easy going baby I have ever photographed and I was a bit surprised about that since preemies can sometimes be a bit fussier and also being that she was three weeks old already I thought she might have lost that newborn curl - but not a chance! She was just as sweet as can be! Enjoy the preview - there are so many more yet to come!

This Brandon, Manitoba couple are to be married in August. They made the trip into Winnipeg this weekend and found some time to head out to Birds Hill Park with me to do some engagement photos. I think this groom already has some competition...with his brides first true love....Roxy the golden retriever. You two...uh sorry, three, were awesome, trekking through the grass, braving the bugs, hope Roxy didn't take home any ticks! See you guys in August, I can hardly wait!!

It is always a pleasure to be a part of such a special day, and as a photographer I get the honour of spending quite a bit of time with the couple. It is always full of priceless moments....the grooms expression when he sees his stunning bride coming down the isle...the brides gigantic inner sigh of relief once the ceremony is done....the mother of the brides eyes welling up with tears when she sees her beautiful daughter...the mother of the grooms joy, yet disbelief that her once baby boy has another woman in his life...forever. Ahhhh, I LOVE my job! Thanks S&D! Can't wait to see the pictures from your second destination wedding...wish I was coming to photograph!

Winnipeg Wedding!!

I'm not sure what the secret was all about but I have a feeling it might have had something to do with our lack of experience driving a golf cart! Good times!

Saturday was the perfect day for a wedding! Not too hot, not too cool, nice breeze and lots of sunshine! This couple was so adorable together - full of smiles! They were one of the most relaxed couples I've had the pleasure of photographing. No tears were shed at the service, I think they were just so excited to be married. And the groom couldn't hide his feelings for his new wife...well I think the pictures speak for themselves!

P.S. Thanks to Angela Kroeker for all your amazing help! You always get my creative juices flowing and are a riot to shoot with! I have to say if there's one thing I have to do again in this life it's drive a golf cart with you! LOL!

I met this family in the park the weekend before last, it was a beautiful day other than a bit more wind than we all would have liked. Harbourview park is a great place for a large family photo session, there are a few nice places that give some variety as well as not having to spend too much time walking from place to place. Here's a little peek at a wonderful family won a prize I had donated to our church's Swaziland fundraiser a while back. They came to the studio to redeem their free photo session along with some prints and digital images. What a great way to meet another Riverwood family that I might have otherwise never met! They couldn't all be here at the same time so Mom and son came one evening and then Mom came again with Dad and daughter another night - it worked out well I think.

Ali...a real hero!

Just wanted to add a bit to yesterday's post. Ali is an incredibly brave little 5 year old. She doesn't know it, and you can't tell by looking at her, but she is a hero! A hero because she has been through a very long battle and has come out a winner! She has just finished a long and very intense chemotherapy treatment for leukemia and thank God it is in remission...and treatment is over! HOORAY! But it's not her victory that makes her a hero, it's the fight she fought that gives her this title. Most of you know that we have our own little hero in our family, our 6 year old daughter Chelsea. I learned so much about strength and courage from our little girl at the young age of 3! I'm sure Ali has thought you all a few things as well. Ali, you are amazing! You are special! You are loved! I hope I was able to make you feel special in the short time you were in front of my camera - I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself!

Now for the plug....if you know a child who has been through or is going through a fight with a life threatening illness and you think they would like a free photo session please pass along my info to them. We were so amazingly blessed by people when Chelsea was sick, this is just a small way I'd like to give back.

Sunshine and lollipops!!

Ok, so there was not much sunshine this morning, just a whole bunch of that white stuff - YUCK! But these two little sweethearts lit up the studio with there adorable smiles! Especially when the lollipop came out, what little girl wouldn't love a lolly bigger than her head?! Big sister, "A", you are an amazingly special, brave, and determined little girl, I feel so blessed to have spent the morning with you and "K" and Mommy today! Thanks girls!

My new baby!!

Yep, it came in the mail today...my new Canon 5D Mark II and I am in love! Here are literally the first three frames I shot with it. Shot at 800 iso, natural light. Can I say, I am amazed? Even in low light like this there is no noise and the colour is gorgeous compared to my 40D....I'm just giddy, can you tell?! On another note, this is my, soon to be 8 year old doing what she loves best lately, reading a Rainbow Fairy book. She is getting too big and I can't stand it!

This photo session for me was all about one very special little 4 year old...and her wonderful family of course. I'd love to fill you in on the details surrounding our chance meeting some other time. For now let's just say I feel so blessed to have been able to capture the love and business of this family of six. The kids range in age from 9 months to 4 years...that's right, 9 months, 2 years, 3 years, and 4 years! You would have been shocked to see how nicely they all get along too. Meet little Jonah. He just turned one and to celebrate, his super, awesome, amazing Mom (and my cousin) made him a cake and actually let him smash it all over the floor in her brand new beautiful home! How fun! As you can see, Jonah didn't take his cake smashing job lightly, he really got into it...hence the bath! Enjoy! :)

This lovely family has been in my home a number of times for pictures, this time was their first in the new studio and their first with their brand new baby girl. Big sister "M" seemed glad to not be in the spotlight and was happy to have a few pictures taken and then play toys instead which was great for Mom and me since it gave us a bit more time to focus on the new little baby bundle. K and T, I think you have the widest eyed, longest lashed girls I've ever met! What adorable little sweethearts!

Yes...my studio can accommodate a family of five nicely. Even when the kids aren't little! It takes a bit of creativity and some photoshop skills to fill in where my backdrops fall short (or narrow) but it works none the less!

6 month old baby "L"

Bring on the babies!! I have had quite a few in the studio in the last month and I have to say I LOVE it! I don't often get 6 month olds but I should mention it is such a fantastic time for pictures! Babies at 6 months are usually not at the shy stage that they hit around 9 months. They are smiley, pudgy, and adorable! Whether they are sitting or not this stage is so sweet and so much fun to photograph. A mini-session of half hour to 45 minutes is usually plenty of time for some great shots. In about 45 minutes we were able to get around 20 great shots with three outfit changes and two back ground changes!! So, keep bringing on the babies, I gotta get my baby fix somehow, mine just turned two this week.

This newborn session was extra sweet because I Corey and I got to catch up with a couple who we've known for years! In fact, these new parents started dating in grade 8 and I found out were even in the same kindergarten class together - could there be a sweeter story than that?!?! And now their first baby, what an exciting and wonder filled time in their lives. I'm so thrilled to have had the oppertunity to document one of baby "K"'s first afternoons. Thanks so much B and L, he is such a beautiful boy!! There are so many more great shots coming!

Well, thank-you very much Facebook for reuniting me with a friend whom I haven't seen since elementary school! It turns out that she is sister-in-law's with another friend who I went to high school with who's been in the studio for some maternity and new born pictures a few years ago, SMALL WORLD! Anyhow, they thought it would be fun to book their sessions back to back with an overlap so they could get a few shots of their adorable daughters together. What fun! It was so nice to see you girls and meet your beautiful families, my how time flies!

A good friend of mine brought her two adorable kids to my new studio last weekend and they had a blast getting their pictures taken...well E had a blast and N was very cooperative! Anyhow, it's been a while since I've had children of their age in the studio and I had a great time giving them some direction and it was nice that they were so willing to play along! My baby's turning two!!

I just can't believe my baby is going to be two in a little more than a week from now! This is it, the last one. Although I can't say I will be sad to say good-bye to diapers I am quite choked up about not having babies anymore. Thankfully Colton still considers himself "Mommy's Baby." And when I ask him if he is a big boy now he says, "no, I Mommy's baby!" He is the most affectionate, snugly little boy but he never lets that get in the way of getting himself into trouble. Mommy loves you little "Toltie"!

Engagement session in the park...

Today "S" and "J" came for their engagement photos in the studio and then out to the park. We got off to a rocky start to say the least! First one of my studio lamps blew when I turned it on...then after some re-configuring of the lighting, I got up on an antique chair and crashed to the floor when the chair smashed into about 6 pieces under me! Thankfully it was only the chair and my pride that were hurt and we all shared a good laugh at my clumsiness. Apparently I held onto my camera like it was a baby so it was undamaged as well. What a day! S and J, I hope you still have some faith in me after today's fiasco! :)

Hi again! Here is a bit of a sneak peek at today's newborn session in my new studio. This little diva wasn't sure how she felt about the whole modeling thing but with a feed and some cuddles from her mama she came around. We even managed to get some sleepy shots which can sometimes be difficult with an 8 week old. I just loved all her hair, what a cutie! It's so awesome to see those first smiles. Thanks "C" and "M" for your patience, I think it was well worth the time spent to get some great shots. There are so many more pictures yet to come.

I heart my new studio!!

It's taken a lot of hard work (of my husbands and others) and a lot of patience (it was good practice for me as I do need to practice patience) but the day has finally arrived. I had my first session in my new studio this morning and it was wonderful! I could make a big mess of all my props and when it was over just walk away from it to worry about it some other time. It was wonderful to be able to just worry about taking pictures and not about setting up and taking down. So many great things to say about it but what I really want to say is, THANK-YOU Corey! I love it, I love it, I love it!!! And, Chelsea, it is NOT your dancing room, it's Mommy's room!

Today's Frost...

I just love hoar frost and I wish just once I could spend a good chuck of time outside photographing the beauty and wonder of it. Instead, this morning on my way to Costco, Colton already snapped into his car seat in the van I ran back in for my camera and snapped a couple of pictures of our tree out front. These days for me there just isn't enough time in life to really enjoy these quickly fading wonderful moments.

What can I say besides ADORABLE!!! This little 5 month old beauty queen was an absolute joy to photograph. She was just so pudgy and cute. I have to admit I kind of wanted to keep her...and so did our almost two year old Colton. He woke up from his nap saying, "where'd baby go?" Maternity Session...

Well, it seems like the last time I posted was forever ago! Life gets busy around Christmas time! Last weekend I had a wonderful couple of "yogis" in my studio for some maternity pictures. We had some laughs thanks to J, I'm used to him cracking me up in his studio so I should have known it would be no different in mine. It was a pleasure to photograph your beautiful and might I add perfect belly A! Thanks so much for the opportunity! I can hardly wait to meet that baby girl of yours! There are lots more shots yet to come!

Four lovely girls...

This Christmas I was so very blessed to have been given the opportunity to spend an evening with four of the sweetest girls I've ever met. These girls have had a very hard year and this Christmas was probably one of the hardest they will every have. To try to celebrate in the midst of sorrow and grief...well I'm not sure how they did it but their strength amazes me. They are all unique, brave, independent, responsible and last but not least, BEAUTIFUL! And the thing that really struck me about them was their love for eachother. "M" and "C", you are wonderful examples to your little sisters, and "K" and "D", you have no idea how blessed you are to have them! I hope these pictures were a great Christmas gift to you and to your family, being able to give them to you, well the pleasure was all mine!

Baby Girl "C"

Welcome baby girl "C"! This little sweetheart was born 10 days late and gave her Mama a bit of a hard time during L&D but is she ever a little doll now that she's finally here! She was pretty sleepy when she got here but we had a hard time getting her back to sleep once she was awake. She made us sweat a bit but I think we managed to get quite a few beautiful shots of her newborn sweetness! Sigh...makes me want another of my own....Thanks "A" and "C" for letting me have a snuggle with her while you were here, you are so patient and relaxed with her she is destined to be a laid back, happy little girl.

October Wedding!

This fun couple got married in October and were brave enough to do quite a few pictures outside. Actually it was a beautiful day, we couldn't have really expected better weather. The bride and groom were quite relaxed considering the ceremony wasn't until 7pm and we had to get all the pictures in ahead of time. They were a lot of fun...and the cupcakes were AMAZING! Thanks H&K!

Window light newborn session...

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely couple and their sweet baby boy. Since the sun finally decided to appear I was able to do this session with just window light, my favorite way to photograph newborns. Baby "E" was just adorable, a perfect tiny man who slept like and angle and let me play with him while he did so without a fuss. I have to admit, he was so sweet it kind of made me think I might want another of my own....well maybe not, but thanks for sharing him with me for a couple of hours!

Started off with a b&w just for you "A"!

I met this mama of three boys not all that long ago but we have quickly become very good friends. Her and I share quite a few of the same passions. Just to name a few; motherhood, running (although it has not been a recent passion since I injured my ankle), and of course photography! Our husbands share a much less exciting passion as well...NFL. Although they cheer on rival teams they have managed to get along just fine. We met up a couple weeks ago at Birds Hill, it was such a beautiful day I didn't want to leave the park. It was so much fun spending a bit of time with you guys, and there are so many more pictures left for me to edit.
